Incredible TTRPGs about libraries!

Check out here for some awesome TTRPGs that take place in a library (or heavily involve them in the story)!

Library themed TTRPGs that I’ve tried out!

The Librarian’s Apprentice

The Librarian’s Apprentice by Dan from Almost Bedtime Theater is a solo-journaling TTRPG that sets you questing through an ever shifting library in search of lost documents… and the experience you need to get promoted from apprentice. It’s a fun and twisty adventure with tons of replay value as you explore all the different options from the randomized tables!

The Grandmother Tree

The Grandmother Tree by Purple Bog Press is a D&D adventure that is for kids! It focuses on problem solving and combat alternatives, plus, it is a very fun story full of books, cookies, and a curious wyrmling!

This is a great adventure for playing with young kids, and features a little dragon who loves books while also giving players options for how they want to handle events in the game and NPCs that they encounter.

The Library Game

The Library Game by Open Story Games is a TTRPG/LARP where players learn about library organization while acting as researchers trying to prepare for a catastrophe that’s about to befall the building! Collect magical words for creating your solution before time runs out!

Taking place in an actual real-life library, this is the most library game I have ever checked out.

Complete the Quest: The Poisonous Library

Complete the Quest: The Poisonous Library by Brian McLachlan is a choose-your-own-adventure style graphic novel that prompts readers to make impactful choices, roleplay different characters, and go on an epic adventure with lots of twists and turns!

The adventure leads players towards a cursed library, and an appropriately library-themed villain. As an added bonus, I played this one because I found it at my local library!

Library themed TTRPGs recommended by others

For other recommendations, let me know what you’d recommend to check out! There’s a lot of TTRPGs out there, and I’m looking for ones that are specifically honing in on that all-ages friendly and are set in and around libraries. If you have a suggestion for a game to check out, let me know in the comments, fill out the form here, or email hello@TTRPGkids.com so I can take a look and add it to this section!

Library donations!

TTRPGkids sometimes runs crowdfunding campaigns for their books and games, and includes a library donation tier to support access to resources and TTRPG books! If you’d like to donate a copy to a library, keep an eye out for upcoming campaigns/contact me at hello@TTRPGkids.com OR if you are library that would like a donated copy, also please contact me at hello@TTRPGkids.com!
