The Betti the Yeti Trilogy (book 1, book 2, book 3) follows the adventures of Betti, a very shy yeti, as they make friends, take care of themself, and help others feel and work with their emotions.

How do these adventures work?

This game/story uses the StoryGuider system and is intended for ages 2-7.   It’s a choose your adventure coloring book, which means that you’ll read a story, pick what the character does, AND color the pages how you want.

StoryGuider: The Bashful Yeti

StoryGuider: Betti the Bashful Yeti introduces Betti in this premade tabletop RPG adventure series for pre-K kids! Betti is a yeti who is pretty timid about joining in the local town’s winter festival.  After dodging several inhabitants of the woodland town, Betti literally crashes the party by accident!  Help Betti identify their feelings of embarrassment and make friends despite a rocky start.

This story focuses on practicing the following skills:

• Name strong feelings 
• Understand accidents and forgiveness

StoryGuider: Taking a Sick Day

StoryGuider: Betti Takes a Sick Day is part of the Betti the Yeti premade tabletop RPG adventure series for pre-K kids. This story starts with Betti all excited about a playdate with their new friends until… OH NO!  Betti wakes up with a cold!  Betti has to cancel and feels pretty rough about it.  Help Betti learn to deal with disappointment, learn how to practice self-care when sick, AND learn that their friends still care and can help, even if they aren’t RIGHT there with Betti.

This story focuses on practicing the following skills:

• Talk about disappointment
• Talk about gratitude
• Practice belly breathing

StoryGuider: The Befuddling Bellow!

StoryGuider: Betti and the Befuddling Bellow closes out this premade tabletop RPG adventure series for pre-K kids. This particular story follows Betti and their friends as they find clues about who could be causing the mysterious “GAHHH!!!”  that keeps echoing out over the mountains.  Looks for clues, climb the mountain, and meet the creature of Mount Momentus!

This story focuses on practicing the following skills:

• Talk about anger and frustration
• Talk about saying sorry
• Practice the sequence: identify feelings → stop → belly breath

Skills practice built in

StoryGuider is designed for fun and skills practice.  All stories practice the following skills:

• Make choices between two options
• Point to pictures when they are named
• Give short answers (1-4 words)
• Play make-believe games
• Practice body exercises (gross motor skills)
• Color pictures and doodle (fine motor skills)

And then each story also focuses on 1-3 additional core social-emotional or learning-critical skills for kids!

About the StoryGuider system

StoryGuider is a system to help make simple stories with your kid(s) so they can get used to tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs), decision-making, problem-solving, etc.

It focuses only on the RP side of TTRPGs (there are optional dice roll rules provided, but they are not required).  This is so kids can get used to playing as a character and changing the story without having to simultaneously worry about learning mechanics that they are not familiar with.  It is a stepping stone into playing more rules-based TTRPGs OR can just be a fun interactive story time experience!
