Review of the Luciana Witherwood adventure in Tavern Tales, plus a highlight on helpful TTRPG tools

Tavern Tales is a D&D 5e compatible adventure setting and book that, I believe, is generally made for older kids or grown-ups, however… it does include a very kid-friendly adventure that shows how TTRPGs aimed at all-ages accessibility can be just as exciting as any other quest, AND, as a whole book, features several tools and aides to help with gameplay that I haven’t seen in many kid-focused TTRPGs but that could add quite a bit to the experience and allow several other adventures in the book to potentially be used with players ages 8+.

Review of Holiday Respite, a TTRPG for reflecting on the adventure’s you’ve already had

I got to try out Holiday Respite as part of the Bear Hugs 2023 charity stream and had a GREAT time playing it with the creator herself! Check out my review here to see how its look-back storytelling helps with reflection and makes for a great holiday game for all ages.

Review of Teatime Adventures!

Teatime Adventures is a cozy TTRPG with exciting stories and wonderful characters to discover and explore with each session. It’s beautifully illustrated, has mechanics that promote collaboration and empathy, celebrates inclusion and wholesome vibes, and even has adventure-related recipes for some delicious baked goods that are just as much a treat as the rest of the book!

Review of Raccoon Sky Pirates!

Raccoon Sky Pirates is a TTRPG full of chaos and trash pandas taking to the skies in search of the wondrous treasures just waiting to be plucked from the suburbs! With creative mechanics that push players to come at a problem with their character’s full personality, it’s great for getting into some creative trouble and having a blast (just hopefully not with the ship actually blasting) at any age.

Review of What’s Popping Fellow Kids, a cringy game about fitting in

What’s Popping Fellow Kids is a TTRPG that puts the kid in the GM seat as the adult, playing a cryptid, tries to fit in at school! It’s a great way to learn about your kid’s day and have some fun giving your child a chance to run the scene!

Review of Fabula Ultima PRESS START TTJRPG

Fabula Ultima by NEED GAMES! won the 2023 ENnie for Best Game, and I can definitely see why! Here, I check out the free Fabula Ultima quick start guide, PRESS START, which can be a great first introduction to TTRPGs and truly translates the feel of JRPGs to the tabletop format.

The Library Game by Open Story Games is a TTRPG/LARP where players learn about library organization while acting as researchers trying to prepare for a catastrophe that’s about to befall the building! Collect magical words for creating your solution before time runs out!

Wizards, Warriors, and Wellness by Jack Berkenstock and Baron Blakley from The Bodhana Group is a wonderful intro to therapeutic tabletop RPGs whether you’re a therapist or layperson and experienced or new to applied gaming.
