You have seen many Kickstarters for tabletop roleplaying games, but this one is a whole different animal! In Disaster Hamsters 2 by Plot Hooks, you get to play as sentient hamsters adventuring through a world full of other intelligent critters in this epic 5e-compatible book!
Disaster Hamsters 2 features everything you’d need to play as a hamster in 5e: there’s comprehensive mechanics and stat blocks for all sorts of creatures, a complete campaign setting chock full of fun animal NPCs, and an adventure that takes your hamsters from levels 1-3!
The book is also kid-friendly! It’s the equivalent of a PG rating, and includes clear content warnings in sections that contain themes that may be distressing to some children, so that GMs can handle these areas with care. Frequent sidebars — spoken by the kid-friendly mascot Hamster von Yolo — also include tips for running the game for kids, which include non-violent solutions to problems and the encouragement of teamwork.
How is all this even possible, though? Well, Jaer’i Heliot, the elven scientist villain from the first Disaster Hamsters, has finally perfected the art of crafting sentient animals. Although he has designed many creatures, he regards his work with hamsters as the pinnacle of his achievements. And as a final test of his creations, Jaer’i has dropped these adorable rodents into an enormous nature preserve called the Sanctuary which he’s filled with hundreds of other smart critters.
