Running games in the Access Forward Gaming Lounge (AFGL) at Pax U!

I’ll be running running six sessions of games in the AFGL this year!

First, the AFGL is part of the PAX Together program designed to celebrate diversity and make it easier for folks to join in the community. One of they ways its doing this is via the AFGL, which provides accessibility-focused gaming opportunities. The AFGL is being supported by event partners, DOTS RPG Project and Open the Gates.

The games I’m running are ones that I’ve designed to be playable in different ways – player can choose between verbal, writing, art, pointing, etc responses, listen to it as a story without responding, or use as semi-guided solo play.

I’ll be running the following sessions (descriptions below the list), and I’m looking forward gaming with you all!

  • Fri 11am (A Construct’s Nature pt 1)
  • Sat 11am (A Construct’s Nature pt 1)
  • Sat 2pm (A Construct’s Nature pt 2)
  • Sat 3:30pm (A Construct’s Nature pt 2)
  • Sun 11:30am (StoryGuider: Will the Wizard Meets the Loc Yes Monster)

A Construct’s Nature (ACN) pt 1 is going to cover character creation and the first chapter or two of the game. ACN pt 2 is going to cover the next couple chapters, but it’s not necessary to have played the first part to be in the second part – we’ll get you caught up! ACN is going to be run as a group decision game made for all-ages (kids AND grown ups). All participants will also get a free digital copy of the game to take home so they can continue playing, if they want.

Great for kids!
Made for ages 2-7

StoryGuider is made for kids ages 2-7 and this particular adventure will have players traveling to the great Loc Yes where none other than Yessie, the lake monster, will be the subject of our players’ quest. Yessie can only say yes to the players’ questions… but they’re also always just a little bit off! Let’s see if players can outsmart Yessie, or win them over with a bit of kindness.

Self Publishers Meet Up Hosted by TTRPGkids

On Sunday, right after running StoryGuider I’ll be hosting a meet up for TTRPG self publishers in the Community Room! Stop by to meet other creators, have a common spot to reconnect with friends, and see what everyone’s up to!

Whether you’re looking to collaborate or just say hello, I’m looking forward to seeing folks there!

Gaming the Systems, the same group that presented at the Origins Education and Therapy Conference earlier this year has three talks going on at Pax U, and I’ll either be presenting or doing what I can to help out in the background!

Check out these panels/workshops and come chat with us about youth-focused and inclusive gaming! I’ll at least be on the Making a TTRPG for YOUR Particular Classroom workshop, and I’ll be hanging around for the others when I can!
