Live on Backerkit! Mystery Snacks by TTRPGkids!
Want to go straight to the campaign page? CLICK HERE!
Made to capture cozy, silly, and exciting mystery novel vibes, Mystery Snacks gives you all the ingredients needed to set up and solve a satisfying enigma with your tabletop RPG group!

The system-agnostic all-ages friendly whodunits found here are arranged like a recipe book, clearly listing clues and key story elements like meal prepped adventures to minimize your set up and let you focus on facilitating your players cooking up a solution.

The 16 page base book includes three starter mysteries along with the optional system:
- Per Diem at the Museum, an investigation into missing museum items (and a snack stand raid)
- Dude, Where’s My Broom?, a magical college campus and coffee shop conundrum
- Ostriches on the Loose, an exploration of farm abductions and cryptid sightings
And there’s hopes to add up to 11 more mysteries, more than doubling the size of the book, via stretch goals and specific reward tiers!

In addition to the system-agnostic adventures, the book will include a rules-lite mystery-specific system based on Breathless, a 2-5 player system by Fari RPG that’s used in 250+ TTRPGs. While the stories can be played on other systems, I wanted to provide an option for folks who would like to try something new or who are looking for mechanics that pair particularly well with sussing out secrets.

Mysteries throughout the game are made to be great for any age (kids or adults) with tones and themes that reflect the feel of a good mystery novel or cartoon-like shenanigans.

Donate to a Library (and get a PDF treat for yourself) – $16

Every year, TTRPGkids donates physical and digital game books to libraries during The American Library Association’s (ALA) Games & Gaming Roundtable (GameRT) International Games Month (IGM).
During IGM, registered libraries that are looking specifically to add games to their collections are awarded materials donated by creators, improving accessibility to the community and bolstering a part of the library that doesn’t always get a ton of funding attention.
Supporting this tier gets you a digital copy of Mystery Snacks and will send a physical copy of the zine to a library in need during IGM in November 2026.
Sponsor an Article on TTRPGkids.com – $200

I love making and publishing games, but my main project is actually the TTRPGkids.com website! This 650+ post resource has reviews, tips and tricks posts, creator interviews, and details on my process so others can find what they need to either facilitate or make tabletop RPGs that work for all-ages.
Sponsoring an article here would get your name and logo (if applicable) on one of the TTRPGkids pages along with a special thank you shout out with a link to your work (if applicable).
Currently, TTRPGkids.com, as a whole, gets about 285k impressions per month (about 3.4 million per year), split between all the posts on the site. This is a long term sponsorship, so your name, logo, shout out, and link would be seen year-over-year on the site from this one sponsorship purchase.
If you choose this tier, please see the terms listed in the article sponsor tier to make sure you qualify. Please feel free to contact me with questions to pre-check this at hello@TTRPGkids.com.
Mystery Snacks bonus snacks!
One of the further stretch goals for Mystery Snacks is to add recipes that pair with all of the mysteries in the book! As a predecessor to this, early and returning backers will get bonus recipes to kick off the process!
Early Birds will get the Secret Snack Mix Recipe (pairing with the Per Diem at the Museum adventure) and Returning Backers will get the Secret Soup Recipe (pairing with the Ostriches on the Loose adventure).
In addition, there’s collab bonuses for backing other projects that you can combo with this to get a whole set of extras, which I’ll detail more in the next section!

Mystery Snacks add-ons!
Add-ons for Mystery Snacks include additional game copies and all of the base rewards listed above.
You’ll also be able to get a la carte zines and books from previous TTRPGkids campaigns, shown here!

Mystery Snacks stretch goals!
Stretch goals for Mystery Snacks are going to be centered around adding more mysteries, increasing the size of the printed zine. If these area reached, I’ll be announcing the Dessert Menu with even more goodies!
To add new mysteries, costs will include:
- Printing additional pages
- Layout
- Writing
AND… all of these stretch goal mysteries are by a team of other writers to increase the variety of the stories available! They’ll all follow the same cookbook-like format so you can follow from adventure to adventure, but these different writers WILL be bringing their own spin on the cozy to silly mystery vibes of the whole collection for any goals met.

If the project hits the $6k goal, this will also unlock a whole new stretch goal menu called THE DESSERT MENU. This will be the cherry on top of the project, including a variety of bonuses, like splash art, library support, and community copies.
Collabs during Zinetopia/Zine Month!
Mystery Snacks is part of Zinetopia and is collaborating with La Lionne Publishing, publisher of games like The Apothecary’s Apprentice!
First, if you back both La Lionne Publishing’s project, One Page TTRPG Bundle, AND Mystery Snacks, you’ll get a free game from each of us! We’ll be each writing a 1-page TTRPG that will be added as a bonus reward with no charge for our collab backers.

Next, Mystery Snacks is part of Zinetopia, a larger collaboration project run by Backerkit! Backing multiple projects during the event not only helps you find other cool projects, but you can get a bonus reward from Backerkit! Check out who else is part of the event by clicking the Zinetopia link further up on the side of this page.

Meet the team behind Mystery Snacks!
Everything in Mystery Snacks is human made with work from a team of folks who want to make something fun for others to enjoy.

These individuals are part of the main book creation and will be involved in helping to make sure all stretch goals are supported where needed.

As stretch goals are funded, we’ll be adding the following writers to the team! These creators have experience in making and writing tabletop RPGs and/or running games for all-ages. They were picked for their excellent expertise, and I’m looking forward to adding them to the project.

Thank you!
Thank you for checking out my project, and I hope you get a chance to check out the game! I’m really excited to get to share this update with other folks, and project like this also help keep TTRPGkids afloat in the long term.
When I run a project, I try to target raising just enough to cover the costs for printing and paying folks, then after-campaign sales allow me to have funds for the TTRPGkids site, convention travel for doing talks, and future projects. Your support has a big impact on everything here, and I appreciate you sticking through to the end of the post to learn about Mystery Snacks!
