Featured Project: Epilogue, a spooky spelling TTRPG about your adventure’s end

Check out Epilogue for a fun twist on creating adventures in retrospect AND some awesome story-driving spelling mechanics that are great for both adults to play with vocab and for kids to practice reading skills!

Spooky vibes, storytelling, and a little spelling practice too – Epilogue is a storytelling game that uses word fragments to help players recreate the chronicle of their final adventure together.

In Epilogue, you’ll use cards to create words and then use that word to weave a part of your tale. The premise: you and your friends wake up in the great beyond – but you don’t remember how! You’ll have to work together to jog each others’ memories and recount your final hours. For younger players we recommend a small thematic twist! You can tell the story of why the living room looks like a tornado hit it, or how a portal to another realm opened up on the back porch.

Storytelling options are endless, and both kids and adults will get to flex their creative muscles to recount their tale collectively.

Storytelling as a group creates amazing memories! Your story will be as unique as the friends and family around your table. In hundreds and hundreds of plays we have never heard the same story twice! Will your tale be spooky, silly, haunting, or hilarious?

Additionally, Epilogue helps with spelling, imaginative play, and vocabulary. The cards contain fragments of the most common English words and through overlapping, flipping, and rearranging the word possibilities include thousands of options (learning to recognize patterns but also think outside the box for clever letter arrangements is another great skill!) We’ve had players mention they’ve used the cards as writing prompts! And educational studies recognize that cooperative play is a great way for children to learn how to share, communicate, learn from others, and resolve differences.

Epilogue’s art features the ‘ghosties’ a group of sweet spirits here to help you on your journey. Special kickstarter backers can get themselves made into ghosties, and the rule book will contain the story of each ghost and how they met their end (Including Aerobics Aiko, who met a tragic end at her favorite gym). Each card also boasts dozens of individual illustrations to help prompt your story telling – from artichokes and floppy disks to magic mirrors and balls of yarn!

Epilogue was designed by Emma Larkins with art by Arnel Baluyot and will be on Kickstarter starting October 15. You can find it here:

The game is recommended for party groups, families, and solo adventuring, we just recommend that participants be reading. You can also find coloring sheets featuring some of the card art here:
