Featured Project – Tales of Aetheria: An Unexpected Quest

Tales of Aetheria: An Unexpected Quest is the first book in the Tales of Aetheria series. This book introduces families to enjoying fantasy tabletop role-playing games (like Dungeons & Dragons) together. It is beautifully illustrated and makes a great bedtime story for kids of all ages. An Unexpected Quest is part of a larger project by Game Master Mom that includes books and TTRPG adventure modules set in the wonderful world of Aetheria.
The story follows two young siblings who play a TTRPG with their mom on a rainy day. As their characters– Brit, a half-elf wizard, and Talon, a human fighter– the siblings delve into an unexpected quest and make new friends along the way in this epic tale of their adventures!

This children’s picture book was made for fantasy lovers, TTRPG enthusiasts, and nerd families everywhere!
The author, Nicole, aka Game Master Mom, wrote Tales of Aetheria based on her experience as a game master running kids’ D&D games. Nicole searched for a children’s picture book to share with her own young kids to introduce them to the fantasy TTRPG worlds that she loves– and couldn’t find one! So, she wrote her own!
Later in 2025, Game Master Mom will be launching Adventures in Aetheria, a companion TTRPG for kids ages 3+. The game is set in the same fantasy world and ties into the book series. The goal of this second project will be to introduce kids to TTRPGs and make it easy and accessible for families to start playing together!
