Featured Project: The Board Game Survival Kit!

The Board Game Survival Kit is an awesome way to make sure you always have game pieces that are your own, can replace missing pieces from a game, and or help show someone that you understand their flair! Check it out here before the KS ends and visit Atikin Games for more games and pieces after the crowdfund completes!

The Board Game Survival Kit is a pocket-sized mint tin full of tabletop gaming components in your favourite colour. The idea is to be able to play most games as your favourite colour even if the game itself doesn’t contain your colour of choice. In reality though it’s much more than that, it’s a handy kit of components for print and play games. It can reduce the risk of contamination if you only touch your own pieces during a game. It’s a great kit for those with colour vision deficiency as you can add stickers to your own pieces to make them easier to see on a game board.

The kits currently come in 3 types (basic, meeples and deluxe), 2 sizes (standard and large), 9 colours (purple, green, red, blue, yellow, orange, pink, black and white) and two label types (the standard colours and a rainbow version released for pride month last year). This new campaign adds a new type (ultimate), custom labels so players can have their names on the tin, and new colours that are being added as stretch goals. As I type the campaign has unlocked the brown, gold and silver kits. We’re working towards teal and grey which I hope to fund by the end of the campaign on February 23rd.

Along with choosing the type, size, label and colour of your kit I always allow people to add any extra components they would like and, most importantly, in the pledge manager, there is a choice of whether to have shrink wrap or not to avoid the unnecessary use of plastics. When shrink wrap is used, it is the type that is recyclable.

My main goal in everything I do is to try and make gaming as comfortable for the players as possible, whether that’s being able to use a favourite colour, making components easier to see on the board, or just feeling prepared and included when sitting down to play a game.

The Board Game Survival Kits are made by me in my home office so they aren’t lab tested and aren’t toys, they all have a 14+ sticker on them, and I would call this teen friendly, especially as that’s a time in your life when a favourite colour feels more significant. It’s often a time when you’re starting to show off your individuality and what’s important to you.

I’m based in the UK but ship anywhere in the world and anyone in the UK spending over £30 gets free shipping. I will be fulfilling the campaign between March and June 2023 so there isn’t long to wait for your colourful kit to arrive. Please take a look at the campaign if you get a chance and seek me out on social media if you would like @AtikinGames.

    1. For sure! Happy to help, and I can see a lot of awesome uses for this with board games and tabletop RPGs – we’ve lost a lot of game pieces to both our kid and our cat, so these would make awesome replacements in addition to being a super versatile take-it-anywhere kind of game kit. These are really cool, and I’m happy to help highlight them.
